Name: Imogen

Been a Swimming Teacher for: Since 2019

What made you want to be a teacher? My first job was a Swim Assistant. I loved having a job that helped make a difference and being able to help teach young children and adults a life saving skill. This then encouraged me to want to become a Swimming Teacher.

What is your favourite skill to teach? My favourite skill to teach is survival skills, such as treading water. It’s fun to learn and teach as well as being very important skill.

Which stage do you think is the hardest? I believe the hardest stage to teach is Stage 5, as you need to have stamina and confidence to swim longer distances in deeper water. Whilst introducing arms for Butterfly and Breaststroke.

Have you got a funny swimming story? Whilst teaching on my first day of a new shift I fell in the pool with the ipod in my hand, in front of all the children and parents!

Where in the world would you like to swim? I’d love to swim in the Maldives.

Tell me something interesting about you? I regularly go to the gym and I'm motivated to stay healthy. I’m also very interested in documentaries, and love baking.
